Big Idea Festival Mini

For the past 2 weeks I've been playing along with the Big Idea Festival at Big Picture Classes and it's been great! The way it worked this year was that there were 12 teachers who each picked a word that meant something special to them. They then each created a layout about that word and videotaped a message for all of us to watch and get inspired! It definitely worked for me because I made a mini album with all 12 words and had a ton of fun with it. :) I thought it over for a while before deciding what my album would be about but in the end it came down to a handful of my favorite pictures that each hold a special place in my heart...

Isn't it just fabulous?? I can't stop looking through it and neither can my girls, which is pretty cool in my book. ;) I can see more albums like this one in my future for sure...

Thank you for letting me share my album with you...I hope you like it. :) Thanks for stopping by today!

Sassy Lil' Sketches 8/25 Reveal!

It's time for another reveal at Sassy Lil' Sketches! I really liked this sketch as soon as I saw it...

Supplies: BoBunny Gabrielle 6x6 Paper Pad; Colorbox Chalk Ink - Chestnut Roan; Craft Smart Ink - Chocolate Brown; Ali Edwards Stamp Set - Sentimentally Ali; Fiskars Circle Punch; Fiskars Butterfly Punch; Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch; Martha Stewart Circle Cutter; I-Rock

I absolutely LOVE how my card turned out! It took a little bit of extra time because to make the scalloped circle, I actually used a circle punch to punch a bunch of smaller circles and attached them to the back of the bigger one. It gives a fabulous effect so it's totally worth the effort. ;)

Just a reminder that the card sponsor for the month of August is My Favorite Things Stamps, so if you want a chance at winning a fabulous prize from them, go get creating! You have until 9/5 to enter your card from any of the card sketches in August. Remember to link your card at the correct sketch reveal for it to count! The link for this week's sketch is here. Thanks for stopping by today!

Guest Designer for Helen Croft!

I am SO excited to share some amazing news with you today! A few months ago, I emailed Helen Croft from Scrap A Little to let her know that I had used a sketch of hers and sent her a picture of my layout. Well, she wrote me back saying she loved what I'd done with the sketch and asked me if I'd be interested in being a guest designer for her! Ummm, yes! ;) She sent me a new sketch to get creating with and I had so much fun making two layouts with it...

Supplies: Fancy Pants Paper - Wishful Thinking; Craft Smart Ink - Chocolate Brown; EK Success Scallop Circle Punch; Fiskars Circle Punches; Martha Stewart Butterfly Punches; Jillibean Soup Corrugated Flower; I-Rock; I-Rock Clear Gems

Supplies: BoBunny Paper - Mama-razzi; Craft Smart Ink - Chocolate Brown; Fiskars Circle Punches; Fiskars Triangle Punch; Fiskars Star Punches; Jillibean Soup Corrugated Flower

Fabulous right?? As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew just what I wanted to create with it. Plus, I used two new-to-me collections that I just got, so it was even more fun! And isn't it cool to see how you can create similar yet different looking pages using the same sketch? The first layout is 8x8 using one picture, while the second layout is 12x12 using two pictures, and there are tons more possibilities! I love that. :)

If you want to check out Helen's blog post featuring the pages I did with her sketch (seriously, how cool is that??), along with some other pages I've done using her sketches in the past and some favorites of mine, you can visit her blog.

I want to say thank you so much to Helen for allowing me to work with a new sketch and for sharing your talent with us all...you totally rock! Also, thank you to all of you for stopping by today and sharing in my joy. ;)

Teacher Card

I have a quick post to share with you this morning as we're headed out in just a few minutes. I saw the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays for this week and wanted to play along because it's totally something out of the ordinary...

Supplies: Papertrey Ink Rustic Cream Cardstock; Colorbox Chalk Ink - Chestnut Roan; Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Fired Brick; Unity "Children" Stamp; Maya Road Apple Stamp; Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher; Doodlebug Brads; Misc. Ribbon

The challenge was to make a clean & simple card that is 4x9! Crazy right? I love the idea of making unusual card sizes though because it gives you a completely different area to work with and can be alot of fun. I used it as an opportunity to make a cute teacher card for when school starts and I think it turned out great! I have a feeling I'll be trying more of these very soon. ;)

My Sweet Mom (Artful Delight)

It's a new month so it's time to share a layout I made using the August kit from Artful Delight with you! I absolutely LOVE the papers in this kit and couldn't wait to get creating with them. One of the sheets was perfect to scrap this picture of my sweet mom and I at my cousin's wedding last year...

Supplies Used From The Artful Delight August Kit: Authentique Journey "Promenade" Paper; Glitz Vintage Blue "Motif" Paper; Bazzill Cardstock - Carribean Breeze; Kraft Outlet Vintage Dictionary Page
Other Supplies Used: Colorbox Chalk Ink - Chestnut Roan; Craft Smart Ink - Chocolate Brown; Ali Edwards Stamp Set - Loving Words; Fiskars Butterfly Punch; Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch; I-Rock; I-Rock Clear Gems; Bazzill Flower; Prima Flower

Isn't that just SO pretty?? I love it!! One of my favorite parts is the center of the flower. I kept trying different buttons there and nothing looked right, so I pulled out my I-Rock and made my own center with some bling. It worked perfectly!

I took inspiration for my layout from the the August sketch at Artful Delight that fellow DT member Debbie created...

It's a great one! If you want to try your hand at creating something with the sketch, you'll be entered in the drawing to win the September kit for FREE! How awesome would that be? ;) You have until 8/23 to link up your project. Also, if you are totally loving this kit (like me!), make sure you grab one up quick because I'm thinking these will go fast...
