The Paper Variety Challenge #3!

It's time for our third challenge over at The Paper Variety! This week "The sky is the limit!". The idea is to use anything you might see in the sky as your theme...birds, butterflies, kites, clouds, stars, the sun, etc. Really cool idea. ;)

Anyone who knows me could probably guess that I chose to use butterflies for my theme...I love them! I recently won an Echo Park "A Walk In The Park" collection pack and the butterfly patterned paper was just perfect for me! I used it to create a mini album/address book. It's something I've wanted to do for a while now and I am SO happy with it...

Supplies: Echo Park Paper - A Walk In The Park; Bazzill Kraft Cardstock (Inside Pages); Cosmo Cricket Lacing Cards (Covers); Craft Smart Ink - Chocolate Brown; Adirondack Paint Dabber - Espresso; Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch; WRMK Corner Chomper; I-Rock; I-Rock Gems; Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type Alphabet Stickers; DMC Floss

Super quick and easy to do, and cute on top of that! :)

So do you have an idea in mind for this challenge? If so, we'd love to have you play along with us! There's an amazing prize up for grabs, sponsered by The Scrapbooking Cottage, and it's a Cosmo Cricket Togetherness Crafting Kit!

Please take a minute and head over to The Paper Variety and check out all of the other DT member's projects...they're fabulous!! I'm really looking forward to seeing yours too. ;)

Getting organized...

I don't know about you all, but my embossing folders/dies for my Cuttlebug are taking over my space, lol! Don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining in any way. ;) It's just that sometimes I forget what I have and this aggravates me. I used to have a small book that I was keeping some pieces of cardstock in which had been embossed, but it got to the point where it was WAY too fat and not at all user-friendly. Because of that, I decided to make a mini album to use instead and I really love how it turned out!

Supplies: BoBunny Paper - Love Bandit; Bazzill Kraft Cardstock (for inside pages); CraftSmart Ink - Chocolate Brown; Cuttlebug; Crop-A-Dile; WRMK Eyelets; Martha Stewart Heart Confetti Punch; Doodlebug Loopy Lou Alphabet Stickers - Lily White; I-Rock; I-Rock Clear Gems; Basic Grey Precision File Set; Adirondack Paint Dabber - Snow Cap; Prima Flower; American Crafts Button; Twine; Binder Rings

Seriously, how CUTE is that?? I'm so excited that now when I want to use my Cuttlebug, I can just flip through my book and easily see what options I have. Plus, there's plenty of room to add more pages, which is a definite plus. ;)

For the base of the album, I used pieces of heavy chipboard which came with a Cosmo Cricket card lacing kit (like this). It worked perfectly! Each piece actually has 8 holes punched into each side, but after covering it with my paper, I only punched out the two on each page that I needed. Simple!

For the distressed looking edges, I first painted all around the edge of each page with a white paint dabber. I then inked it with brown ink, wiped the excess ink off, and then painted again with the paint dabber. I think it's a great effect...

So do you have anything like this that you need to get organized?? If so, this is a super quick and easy way to get it done. I started last night and finished this morning and it was well worth the time and effort. Now it's your turn!! :)

The Paper Variety Challenge #1!

I am SO excited!! Today starts the first challenge over at The Paper Variety, which is to use this sketch to create a project. I really liked the sketch as soon as I saw it and decided to create a layout of my girls and I having a "girls only" day out together. ;) I used some of the yummy new papers from Cosmo Cricket's Togetherness line and I think they worked perfectly with the colors/feel of the picture...

Supplies: Cosmo Cricket Paper - Togetherness & Cogsmo (Journaling Strips); Craft Smark Ink - Chocolate Brown; Cuttlebug; Cuttlebug Tag Team Butterflies Die; Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch; Maya Road Chipboard Letters - Olivia; American Crafts Brads; Basic Grey Brads; Tim Holtz Craft Pick; Making Memories Sanding Block

Do you see how I moved some things around and used some cute butterflies on my page instead of the blocks? That just goes to show you how versatile sketches can be! Get creative...you never know what you can do until you try. ;)

If you decide to play along with us and create something using the sketch, you'll have a chance to win this awesome kit from Paper Poppy Kit Co., filled with amazing products!

I hope you'll join in the fun! I can't wait to see what everyone will be creating. :) Also, make sure you head over to the TPV blog and check out the other DT creations posted today...they're awesome!! Thanks so much for your visit. ;)
